Back & Neck Pain

Do you get it? I sure do -- my students can tell with just one look when my back or neck is bothering me.

Especially the neck, and the associated headaches.

Now I've never visited a chiropractor, but this site from a NY Chiropractic office seems to have a great combination of physicians, neurologists, and chiropractors on staff to deal with the various needs of back patients.

I wish my insurance covered someplace like this here in Houston -- my darling wife could sure use it.

Diamonds Are Forever

Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by diamonds. My mother’s diamond engagement ring is the reason why -- platinum with a Marquis cut, it never left her hand, except for those few times I saw it removed for cleaning. At those times, it was as if her hands were utterly naked, and there was something wrong with the world. In many ways, that ring symbolized not just her, but also my father, whose career in the US Navy took him away from us all too often.

My wife and i didnt go the traditional diamond solitaire route when we got engaged -- her love of the color purple is legendary and so it was a given that the ring would have an amethyst -- but surrounded by diamonds, so as to give the center stone that sparkle that only diamonds can bring.

I recently went to a website called Abazias.com, looking for a little something special for my wife for an upcoming special day. They have a wonderful feature there, a search feature for loose diamonds that allows you to select size, color, clarity and price that will allow you to find just the stone you want for the special one you want. You can then have that special stone (or stones) set the way you want. Because after all, diamonds are forever -- just like love is meant to be.

Payday Loans

I have to be honest with you -- I'd rather do just about anything than have to take out another loan. I don't like owing money if I don't have to, and have seen how doing so can get to be a serious issue that can impact you on the level of the necessities of life, not just the lifestyle level.

But working where I do, I have any number of students who come from families with relatively little means, and that is how I first learned about the reality that is the payday loan. I mean, I hear about families facing the possibility of having the lights shut off or the car taken back because they don't have the cash to make a payment right now. I've seen families facing eviction because someone needs medicine but the rent is due and they are not eligible for Medicare. In situations like that, a payday loan can be the difference between having what they need and losing what they have.

That's why folks that provide such loans exist. And with the advent of the internet, it is now possible to get an online check advance to help you meet those emergency needs if you find yourself in such a situation. We ll know it is better not to have such a need, but when the need exists, it is good to know that there are options that exist to help meet those short-term financial needs.

Personal Loans

Borrowing money is a fact of modern life. Let's face it -- cars and houses alone are investments that most of us need years to pay off. After all, who has a spare 100K sitting around to pay cash for a new home -- or even 15-25K for a car? Heck, if you are like most folks of the middle class, there just isn't that sort of spare change in the couch cushions.

That's when you need to make a decision about seeking a loan -- whether we are talking about a secured loan, an unsecured loan or even, heaven forbid, a bad credit loan.

In the UK, you can turn to SelectLoans.co.uk for information about all these different types of loans. Take a look, it has good information for you. Then make a prudent decision, based upon your circumstances and means, on whether or not to seek a loan.

Rehab happens.

I know -- I've seen it too many times with students at my school.

Maybe it started with a little drinking or a bit of weed, but it became a full-blown substance abuse problem needing intervention and treatment.

But where do you turn? After all, unless you are Britney Spears or Robert Downey, Jr., you probably don't have the card for a celebrity rehab facility in your wallet -- nor do you have the Betty Ford Clinic on speed-dial.

That is why you need somewhere to turn to find that drug rehab program for yourself or a loved one -- and 1800NoDrugs.com can be accessed on the web or by dialing 1-800-No-Drugs to help get you connected with the right treatment option and support services.

Nobody wants to need rehab, or to have a loved one need to it, but it is good to have someplace to turn.

Lighting For The Patio

When we moved into the house, the patio had a ceiling fan with light. Well, as time has gone on, it has gotten a little bit weather-beaten -- heck it looked pretty bad after Hurricane Rita, and has just gotten worse. So we are in the market for new lighting out back -- and we are going to look at wall sconces and other sorts of lighting to spruce the place up. We may even get a security light for out back as well -- just so we can see the dog when she makes one of those infamous "midnight runs" that she needs to make every now and then.

Christian Dating Site

Everybody needs help finding dates sometimes -- even Christians. I know that at my church, for example, meeting a Christian single would be difficult -- we pretty well break down into older retired couples who have been at the church forever and young couples with kids, mostly new to the neighborhood. We just don't have many single twenty-somethings or thirty-somethings. That's why a Christian Dating site is a good thing -- not every congregation (especially small ones) is a great place to meet a mate, even if you are getting your spiritual needs met.

Email Privacy Compliance

There are just too many laws and regulations that require the security of private data -- especially in emails. These include the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and many others -- not to mention common sense and best practices. But how do you achieve full Email compliance? Well, that involves specialized software, like this Email compliance package from Borderware.

Speaking as someone in education who has access to a lot of confidential data that is shared over the district email (grades, discipline records, information about special education students), I can only hope that the school and district have a package like this Email compliance software on our server. After all, not only is it legally mandated to protect such information, it is also simply common sense.

How Much Have I Made?

Well, to be honest, in the last two months I have earned over a thousand dollars just by taking on the sponsored post opportunities available through the PayPerPost.Com blog marketing program. That sure beats the heck out of other ads on my site, which have yet to bring me $200. And what's more, I get to pick the content of my PPP posts, which is not an option with the other programs. If this keeps up, I may just have to drop all those other ads and go strictly with PPP as my sole source of sponsorship revenue!

Now what am I going to do with this extra cash? Well, to be honest, this money is going towards medical bills. My darling wife had two serious illnesses last year, and both of which put her in the Intensive Care Unit for several days as her life literally hung in the balance. At one point I was even told that had we arrived at the hospital even an hour later, I would have lost her. Well, good medical care that brings one back from the edge of death is expensive, even with the benefit of good insurance.

Once that debt is paid (a while from now), I'll put the income from PPP towards our season tickets for the Houston Tickets and Rodeo Houston -- both of which were activities I thought we would have to give up after that second stay in the hospital.

Trust me -- I can find good places for the cash to go.

Need Reading Glasses?

If you are getting to be my age, around forty-something, you are probably noticing that you don't see quite the way you used to. Those old eyes of yours are getting weaker, and you may just need to resort to reading glasses in order to get the job done. You need to visit ACLens.coms to get yourself the glasses you need.

Among the more interesting things I encountered on their site were reading sun glasses. You know, I hadn't though about it, but those are something I could certainly use. Living here in Texas, four blocks from Galveston Bay, I like to sit in the yard or down by the shore with a book in hand reading, or even (ugh!) grading papers. Glasses like these would be perfect for me, since they adapt to the outside light for comfort while reading.

Now the nice thing about this site is that it is well-arranged, allowing you to order different types of lenses by category. Whether you need contacts, bifocals, sunglasses, folding glasses, or about any other type of lens for your eyes, ACLens.coms seems to have a category for it. You can even get swimming goggles – something I wish I’d had in my younger days when I still swam competitively. And what is even better, the prices are good, so you won’t go broke ordering your glasses or contacts online.

Breast Pumps

You know, virtually all scientific research on the subject shows that breast milk is better for babies than formula. That is why breast pumps are an important item for new mothers to have in order to ensure a healthier child.

As a high school teacher, I have a number of students each year who become mothers. Indeed, a couple of years ago a pair of twins in my classes both became pregnant at about the same time. Neither was living at home -- they each had moved in with the family of their baby's father. This led to an interesting "side-by-side" comparison of the benefits of breast milk vs. formula.

Margarita had her baby first, and switched her little girl to formula when she returned to school about six weeks after giving birth. Maria had her baby two weeks later, and decided to breast feed her son. When it was time to return to school, her son's grandmother gave her an Electric Breast Pump so that she could continue to give him breast milk while attending school.

What happened? Well, Margarita's baby was colicky and became sick several times over the course of that semester. Maria's son was healthier, and she missed only three days of school during the same time period. I can't help but believe that the breast milk was at least a part of the difference, as it was one of the few differences in the upbringing of the two babies. After all, that breast milk is what nature intends for healthy babies to have during the first year or so of life.

One other thing I noticed about these sisters was the difference in their attitudes towards their children. Maria, who was continuing to feed her baby breast milk, had a much more positive attitude towards her son than Margarita did towards her daughter. Indeed, it is generally recognized that breast feeding promotes a stronger bond between mother and child.

Now what sort of breast pump is right for you? You can go here to find more information about different brands, including breast pumps from Avent and Ameda.

Is there a 'secret" to getting rich? I'm not sure. But if there is, there certainly exist many folks out there who claim to know it and to be willing to pass it on to you. One such program is contained in "The Secret", a movie that sold 500,000 units within the first 6 months after its release in March, 2006. Well now, according to the Official Site: The Secret Science of Getting Rich, the makers of the movie are preparing to launch a new venture following up on this "transformational movie" -- seminars presented by some of the successful individuals featured in the movie.

So who are we talking about being a part of this effort, based upon the 1910 book “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace D. Wattles? Well, among others, “Chicken Soup for the Soul” author, Jack Canfield; Positive Thinking expert, Bob Proctor and spiritual leader, Michael Beckwith, as well as the movie’s producer, Rhonda Byrne. The new seminar program itself will be delivered to your door on DVD, featuring a how-to approach to becoming rich, including a focus on what is referred to as the central tenet of the program, "The Law of Attraction". CartoonDollEmporium.com

It was something of a shock to go to this site and find Rudy Giuliani in his underwear! Well, OK, not exactly Rudy, but a cartoon drawing of him over at CartoonDollEmporium.com, home of online dress up games that are the modern equivalent of the paper dolls that folks my age knew as kids.

And really, a site like this one can be lots of fun. Personally, I dressed Rudy in sandals and a Hawaiian shirt -- just right or him to go on vacation after he loses the GOP nomination to Mitt Romney, my preferred candidate. But there is also the option of dressing up Hillary Clinton -- whose image is considerably more flattering than any photo! Indeed, there are over 500 possible dolls to dress.

Now the nice thing about this site is that it is also set up to be kid-friendly. It has a chat forums for kids for kids that, from what I can determine, is limited to kids. It has a virtual economy, a Make Believe section, and a host of other neat features that make it a fun site for the little ones that mom and dad can feel safe letting them visit. Really, it seems like a good family site.

Life/Viatical Settlements

Life insurance is a good thing. You need to be insured to provide for your survivors. But unfortunately, the cash surrender value of such policies is very low, and sometimes it is necessary to get the cash for them. There has to be a better option.

And there is. Life/Viatical Settlements are another way to get cash out of those policies when you need it. What such settlemetns do is allow you to receive a portion of the death benefit now, with an individual or company to receive the death benefit when you die.

And that is where the Life Settlement Company of America comes into the picture. The company is in the business of providing Life/Viatical Settlements.

What are the benefits to policy holders?

* Lump-sum cash settlements that exceed the cash surrender value when a policy is unwanted, unneeded, or has become a financial burden;

* Profits realized from term policies that would have otherwise lapsed due to high conversion costs;

* Cash infusion when income is limited, relieving financial stress and providing further medical options, when otherwise impossible;

* Capital generated from a poorly performing policy to fund joint survivor coverage, long-term care insurance, or other investments.

Now you never want to have to make the decision to enter into Life/Viatical Settlements, because they are often needed in time of financial crisis or terminal illness. They are, however, an appropriate tool when the situation one faces requires access to money now that would otherwise become available only after death.

Digital Media Converter

I don't know about you, but I've got a lot of digital media files on my hard drive. One problem is that they are in a wide variety of different formats. There has to be some way to get them organized, and perhaps even converted into a couple of preferred formats.

That's why I find this Digital Media Converter to be of interest. Right now, Digital Media Converter v2.76 is available as a free download for trial purposes -- or the full version can be purchased as well.

What are some of the features of Digital Media Converter? Well, with this program you can do all of the following.

* Convert between VCD, DVD, AVI (DivX, MS MPEG4, uncompressed), MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (PAL, NTSC), MP3, MOV, WMV, WMA, DVR-MS, and WAV.

* Multi-select files and entire folders for conversion.

* Increase the volume of converted file up to 400% of the source file volume.

* Reduce the file size of large videos.

* Convert almost any format that can play on your PC.

* Auto detect and fix many types of file format problems during conversion.

* Split media files into smaller parts or auto split by size and time duration.

* Convert DVR-MS files on your Media Center PCs.

* Transfer media files to your Apple iPod or Sony PSP.

* Adjust video brightness and contrast.

* Search media files on your computer for conversion.

And those are just some of the things this program lets you do – making it great for any user, whether the hard-core digital media junkie or the casual user who simply wants to be able to standardize files and use them easily on iPods and computers. Drop by their site and take Digital Media Converter for a spin, and see if it is right for your needs.

The Trouble With Money

Is, of course, that there is never enough of it.

I'll be honest, sometimes trying to keep up with all the current accounts as I pay off various loans and bills can seem like a daunting challenge. At times like that I'm glad that my home insurance is rolled into my mortgage payment, because at least that is one bill fewer to follow up with.

In the past I've even let credit cards get me in over my head, to the point that I've had to consider going to an outside source for debt advice. It isn't pretty or fun when such a situation arises, for it raises issues of personal responsibility and powerlessness at the same time. Now that I'm a homeowner, of course, Remortgages (or what we in the States call refinancing) becomes an option in the event that money issues ever become too tight. But regardless, there are always options available to deal with money.

Spain

According to family tradition, my family was exiled from Spain to Germany during the time of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, who was also King Charles I of Spain. I'm really not sure why, as the reasons are lost in the mists of antiquity. Perhaps it was due in part to the traumas associated with the Reconquista under Ferdinand and Isabella and their exile of Muslims and Jews -- even many of those who had converted to the Catholic faith.

Whatever the reasons my family left Spain, it is a beautiful country. Many Europeans love to vacation there, and are interested in purchasing properties in Costa Almeria, an Apartment in Costa Blanca and other beautiful coastal regions of Spain. If you are interested in having a vacation place in Spain, I urge you to click the links above.

Internet Coupons

My wife loves magazines. Indeed, I've never seen anyone who gets so many magazines, with the possible exception of the school librarian -- but then again, those are not for personal consumption. So I'm glad I found the books and magazines section of Coupon Chief, where there are lots of coupon codes for books and magazines.

Of particular use around my house will be the coupons for Best Deal Magazines. They have a number of different options available for you -- offering 15% or 20% off of your total order, on top of the already discounted prices they offer. And after all, a bargain is a bargain!

Where can you find this and so many other great internet bargains involving the use of internet coupons? Why at CouponChief.com, of course!

Email Marketing Of Websites

Well, the new blogging platform for the MuNuvian blogs is being beta tested by some of my brother and sister MuNuvians, so I'm stating to think more seriously about the changes that I'll be making here. As I do, I am continuing to give consideration to providing email updates to my regular visitors in the form of periodic newsletters from my site. As I've looked around, I am more and more convinced that I’ve found the utility I’ll use for this service – it is called Zookoda, and it specializes in providing blog email as a form of email marketing, something that I believe that I need to do more of to take this site to the next level.

Why use a service like Zookoda? Because it will let me do the following to market this site with readers.:
• Manage email newsletter subscribers.
• Enhance my blog with custom newsletter subscription forms.
• Design eye-catching newletters to match my blog design.
• Schedule recurring broadcasts for each day, week or month.
• View real-time open, bounce, click and unsubscribe reports.
• Access mobile users by emailing blog content in text format.

Now I’d like to offer my encouragement to my fellow bloggers to take a look at Zookoda and what it can do for them and their blogs. Ask yourself – am I happy where I am, or do I want my site to be something more? If you answer “something more”, consider Zookoda.

Home Reserve Product Launch

My wife watches a lot of HGTV -- and so I watch it with her in order to spend a little quality time with her. One of the companies whose products have been featured on some of the shows like "Mission Organization" has been Home Reserve, makers of some really good ready-to-assemble furniture. well, the company is adding a whole new line of products -- sectionals. Yes, that's right -- now you can got to Home Reserve for sofas, loveseats, chairs and sectionals at reasonable prices.

Now some folks might be a little bit wary of buying furniture off the internet. But think about it -- we buy all sorts of products online, so why not furniture, especially when you are dealing with a company that offers 95 different fabric options to choose from. And the nice thing is that items ship to you within ten days via UPS -- how many times have you found it necessary to wait for something on back-order for much longer with your local furniture store? In addition, all Home Reserve sofas , loveseats, sectionals, chairs and ottomans include built-in storage, changeable covers, and a five year frame warranty that compares favorably to what you would get at local furniture stores.

Now the nice thing about the sectionals is that they are reasonably priced. Sections start at $99 and a nice looking sectional can be completed for under $1000 -- again, a great deal compared to what happens when you go to your local furniture store. Indeed, the prices at Home Reserve on sofas, loveseats, chairs and sectionals are all good compared to what you'll find in a brick-and-mortar establishment.

My darling wife and I have been talking about new living room furniture for a while now, and will probably be making a move once we deal with some remaining medical bills (ICU can be expensive, even with insurance). When we do, Home Reserve will be one of the places we consider seriously -- and if they add a chaise to their sectional line, I can virtually guarantee that they will be our selection.

Wrought Iron Decor Store

I've mentioned a time or two that my wife and I are talking about some changes in our home decor. Well, this is likely to include wrought iron -- we've got a wrought iron cross that we love, and an iron candelabra over the dining table. I foresee some candle sconces and maybe even a wall vase or two placed on the patio. I suspect that my input will be limited to nodding my head and writing checks, though.

Where I may have some input, though, is in where we make the purchases -- and I think that the Wrought Iron Decor Store would be a great place for us to start looking. Indeed, just looking at the site I see some great bath fixtures that would go well with the plans my wife has talked about. Best of all, the products there are priced at a level we can afford -- meaning that the redecorating plans will not bust the budget.

And even better, there is free shipping for orders over $50!

Prayer At Rumayla

Prayer at Rumayla by Charles Sheehan-Miles was published in 2001. It was Sheehan-Miles’ first novel, and drew on his experiences as a veteran of the Gulf War following Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait.

Sheehan-Miles has recently taken the novel and made it into an audio book in the form of nine podcasts available through his website. Currently, the first two chapters are available there, with the remaining seven to follow.

The protagonist of the novel is a nineteen-year-old veteran of the war who is struggling to deal with his experiences in the Middle East, in particular with the accidental killing of civilians. Upon his return home, he has to deal with events that have turned his life upside-down. Reviewers at Amazon praise Charles Sheehan-Miles for his realism in presenting the difficulties faced by veterans of this war upon their return to America. His podcast version is beautifully read by the author, and full of a resonant emotion of one who has shared in the changes wrought by the experience of war.

I’ll be honest – I liked what I heard. If you enjoy literary works dealing with the realities of warfare, this is a good book for you. For that matter, if you enjoy a taut storyline about a character you care about, this is a good choice for you. I listened to the first episode of the podcast, and will be back for the rest – and ready to read Sheehan-Miles’ next book when it comes out.

Personal Injury Law

Bad things happen to good people through no fault of their own. That is a truism -- as is the related notion that there often is someone who is at fault in such situations. That is why personal injury lawyers serve an important role in our legal system.

I recently was directed to the website of the Seattle personal injury lawyers at Paglialunga & Harris, PS. Their site is well-organized and includes a great deal of information about serious accident and injury cases and wrongful death cases. These are areas of law that you hope you never have to deal with, but when confronted with such situations it is important to know where to turn.

The website is particularly good about telling folks what to do in cases of serious accidents where there may be a claim for damages against another party. As I've been told by the legal professionals I work with as part of my evening teaching job, one of the biggest problems they encounter is the fact that clients don't get names of witnesses or sign statements at the request of the other party's insurance company that have the effect of undermining their right to be compensated. The website of these Seattle personal injury lawyers offers tips on how to avoid making such mistakes, and therefore seems to be useful to those without legal training who are facing issues following a personal injury accident.
