I'll readily concede that I dote on Carmie (as does my wife), in large part because, with no children in our home, she is truly a pet-child. That is why I spoil her. And with our sweet girl having reached her eleventh birthday recently, we are all too aware that she is aging and starting to slow down just a little bit. One of these days it will be more than just being gray around the muzzle -- she may lack the spring in her step to jump up on our bed, and may need a bed of her own (though I honestly believe that she thinks that she is generously sharing HER bed with us).
As I've started looking at dog beds, I have seen a number that seem like good possibilities for Carmie. No, not her own chaise lounge (my wife would kill me if the dog got a chaise before she did), but something that would fit in with our decor. Or maybe we should get her something orthopedic that would help to soothe those old bones and joints and make Carmie comfortable when we can't lift her up to join us in our bed. After all, she has been a wonderful companion for all these years, and she deserves to be treated with all the love that she has shown us over the years.

In order to gain credibility and traffic, you need to be well-placed on search engines. How on earth do you manage to do that, especially if you have a business to run and are not a professional web designer? By seeking a company that engages in search engine optimization for you.
Here's how it works. Not only do you need to have your site shows up early on searches. Let's be honest -- you can have the best product or site in the world, but if you turn up as the 17th site listed on page 16 when a search is run, you likely won't be seen by the folks doing the searches. So by determining what word combinations will be most likely to bring the search engines to your site, a search engine placement company can help you present your site to its maximum advantage.
Since 1997, SubmitAWebsite.com is a search engine placement services that has been helping businesses and individuals submit and optimize their websites for the best effect. Their work often results in exponential traffic (and sales) increases. If you are looking to increase traffic and revenue, you want to seriously consider their services.

Here's an interesting idea -- an "opt-in" permission based voice marketing system! Vontoo voice messaging allows you to create your message for your target audience, send it, and track it to determine what sorts of messages are effective.
I'm particularly impressed by that opt-in messaging feature. I don't like telemarketing calls, and don't answer those that slip past the Do Not Call registries. But with Vontoo, folks actually sign up to receive specified calls, so there isn't an issue of bothering folks who don't want to be bothered. Your target audience is those who have indicated that they want to hear what you have to day -- which certainly will help you effectively target your marketing dollar.
Vontoo campaigns can be very effective. Take an example here in my neck of the woods – Houston. LaKisha Jones, one of the stars of this season’s American Idol, was coming to host a special program at a nightclub for young and trendy African-Americans. How best to get eh word out to the public – especially to the intended audience? The company in question chose to use Vontoo voice marketing – with LaKisha actually being the voice for the phone call. The result? An incredibly successful and well-attended event with which attendees were highly satisfied. What more could any advertiser ask for?

Hypnosis has become a respected technique in health care as a part of holistic medicine, as well as a part of the field of psychology. The Infinity Institute has been providing hypnosis training to members of the public interested in applying hypnosis as a complement to traditional medicine and as a field for scientific study since 1980. Licensed to teach hypnosis as a profession by the State of Michigan, The Infinity Institute offers classes in Forensic Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, and Therapeutic Touch, as well as Specialty Workshops on selected topics in hypnotherapy and hypnosis.
One of the things that impressed me was the Infinity Institute's library of free resources for practitioners and the general public. Unlike programs designed merely to make money, the Infinity Institute clearly sees its mission as educating the public at large about the field.

Armand Rousso was associated with one start-up that has run into difficulty. But when the New York Times chose to cover those problems, the article's writer chose to dredge up every bit of salacious gossip in Ruosso's past. Parts of it were of questionable accuracy, and some of it downright prejudicial. Fortunately, I also found the Armand Rousso response to NYT story by Saul Hansell at his blog.
For example, a criminal conviction eight years in the past was characterized as "recent" -- and despite the judge's recognition that Ruosso's misdeeds were out of character and that his overall past and present were those of a responsible citizen. Similarly, the author made vague and unsubstantiated hints of financial impropriety regarding Ruosso's wife (who had served as CEO of the company prior to their marriage). But a close examination shows there is no "there" there. The author couldn't even get the facts straight regarding how Ruosso's fees were paid. This is just sloppy reporting -- and it appears that the New York Times is unwilling to correct it.
Maybe most troubling to me is the fact thet Hansell tries to tar Ruosso with the misconduct of others. he was investigated and cleared in a campaign finance case -- but a partner was convicted of wrong-doing. Now I don't like the candidate in question (Robert Torricelli) or Ruosso's apparent association with the Clintons -- but this kind of slimy journalism is too egregious to ignore. When one is investigated and cleared, it seems wrong to me to impute guilt.

For example, did you know that there were different strategies for single-table and multi-table tournaments?
For example, in a multi-table tourney, you start off simply trying not to lose. Don't get yourself wiped out early through a dumb mover or incorrect play. Hold back just a little bit, until you can either strike with a good hand or even back your way into the finals without having taken any risk at all. I've found that particular strategy to be useful in local tourneys, where most of your opponents are rank amateurs who will end up shooting their wads within a few poorly played hands. And even when you advance, you can still make a killing against some of your competitors because they have gotten lucky and somehow entered a pool that is much too deep for them. Indeed, the host gets it exactly right with his recommendations for conservative play in certain situations -- a lesson I learned the hard way when I was much younger and was sure that A-K could beat anything
Frankly, I like many of the tips that are on the site. If you are trying to learn how to play poker successfully, I don't think you can go wrong if you follow the guidance offered.

Drug abuse happens in our society, all too often. So does alcoholism. They occurs among the rich and the poor -- even athletes and celebrities are not immune. As a teacher, I can know that addiction happens among my students and in every classroom in every high school. It is very likely that I have at least one student in active need of rehab in my newly formed classes -- and I just pray that I recognize their problem and can help guide them to help.
How bad can alcoholism and drug abuse be at a young age? Last spring, one of my students had to enter rehab because she was smuggling alcohol into class in a bottle of apple juice -- she couldn't even make it through a class without drinking!
Where do you turn when your teen is in need of rehab? Well, there are many fine adolescent drug treatment facilities out there. Among these is Teen Rehab ECHO MALIBU, located on the California coast in Malibu. The program is one based upon Empowerment, Choices, Hope and Opportunity, and is designed to teach these young people to make better choices in life. If a young person in your life is in need of rehab, please check them out.

I've always loved browsing through antique stores and estate sales to see the beautiful items from the past that surface there. While my major interest has always been in books, I must admit to having a soft spot for the antique jewelry. There is a beauty and craftsmanship that cannot be matched in much of what you see.
Lang Antiques has been in the business of buying and selling vintage diamond rings and other heirloom jewelry pieces for nearly 40 years. Located in San Francisco, Lang Antiques has established an internet presence that allows buyers from around the country and around the world to purchase one of a kind fine, high quality antique jewelry and estate jewelry -- or to sell such jewelry.

We all know who Donald Trump is. I don't need to tell you how successful he has been in the real estate business, becoming a billionaire in the process. You would have to have lived under a rock for the last few decades not to be aware of his incredible ability to turn a profit under virtually any circumstance.
The question is, do you want to be like him?
You see, Donald Trump is successful because of good business strategy and tactics. These are things you can learn -- finding properties, improving them, investing in real estate, renting your property, flipping properties for a tidy profit -- but you need to be taught them. Trump University is offering real estate training based upon the principles that have made The Donald such a success.
Let's just take a single example -- the course entitled Real Estate 101 -- What Inexperience Homebuyers MUST Know Before Buying A Home. Whether you are looking for a home for yourself or an investment property, this course teaches you how to proceed in a rational fashion and avoid the many pitfalls that buyers come across every day. As the sub-prime mortgage market crashes, I would imagine there are lots of folks who wish they had known these principles when they purchased their home.
So you can see, Trump University isn't just for the big-time investor. It is for the small property owner as well.

So you want to go to college. How are you going to pay for it? After all, the cost of tuition, room & board, and books can easily run you $10-15,000 a year at many schools, with some topping $40,000 for a single year. Do you have that sort of extra cash lying around? I didn't think so.
The solution can be for you to take the pat a family i know did. Even as bright as their children are (the low achieving daughter was second in her high school class by 0.0025 grade points), they did not come up with the academic scholarships and grants to cover their tuition. So what do you do with one child at MIT (later medical school) and two at Harvard? They chose a parent plus student loan">Parent Plus student loan. This allowed them to pay the tuition for the kids while investing their college funds and earning more than the interest rate -- eventually allowing them to completely pay off the oldest child's undergraduate costs within 2 years of graduation and putting them on target to do so with the other two. And with a 6.25% interest rate, they are paying less interest than with a home equity loan or credit card.
So for plus loan information and other information about paying for college, check out FinacialAid.com. Don't let money be the thing that stands between you or your child and a solid education.

However, as a teacher I encourage my students to consider the US military, as a career. It is a way to get great training in valuable fields, life experience that will help you grow as an individual, and money for college.
Most important, it is a chance to serve your country. Whether guarding the seas around our nation, guararding the skies above or the nation's borders -- or serving abroad, whether in combat or not -- you are part of a mission greater than yourself, a mission of preserving American freedom.
In the back of my classroom, there is a WWII poster that puts it well -- AMERICANS ALWAYS FIGHT FOR LIBERTY. The men and women in uniform today stand in line with the great host of those who have fought for American freedom since the birth of the nation in the American Revolution.
Cosider the US military. A grateful nation will thank you for your service in defense of us all.

Drug abuse happens all too often in our society. So does alcoholism. We've seen that with the many celebrities who just cannot seem to stay sober. And as a teacher, I can tell you that addiction happens among my students and in every single classroom in America. Sadly, it is very likely that I have had at least one student in active need of rehab every year, even if I have not always recognized the signs.
How bad can it be, even at a young age? Not long ago, in fact, one of my students had to enter rehab because her drinking had gotten so out of control that she was smuggling alcohol into class in a bottle of apple juice -- she could not make it through the day without drinking! After this, we at school became aware that she had a much wider-ranging substance abuse problem.
Where do you turn when you or a loved one needs treatment? One option is The Watershed, which offers a comprehensive drug rehab at a reasonable cost. With locations in Boynton, Boca, and Houston, they offer a comprehensive range of addiction and rehabilitation services. They are available for consultation 24/7, and can be reached through their website or at 1-800-861-1768.

One of the key things you need to do to sell your product or service is to get your bran out in front of the consumer. One way of doing this is through imprinted promotional products, such as mugs, pens, keychains, and clothing. After all, people subliminally internalize the brand names they see, and sometimes use a company just because of the promotional item. I know, for example, that my choice of where to buy tires was influenced by a pen that one of my students left in class -- when I got a flat, I just had to reach into my pocket and find the number to dial.

After all, even if I don't have kids, I don't want to miss the fun. So what can I wear that would make the night interesting -- and maybe scare the pants off of some of the kids from the neighborhood.
That leads me to one of two Halloween Costumes that I think might serve my purpose just right. more...

I've encountered a number of fantastic fellow PayPerPost Posties over the last several months, and have found that the exposure to some of the other bloggers has been one of the greater regards of being associated with that organization.
One of the blogs I've particularly admired is Shadowscope, where Richard maintains a beautiful blog with a somewhat conservative tilt that mirrors my own. Indeed, I'd visited and linked to his blog from time to time before, but this new association led me to look at his very successful blog and try to take some lessons from it.
And as a fellow Postie, he has posted about how to make money blogging with PPP and analyzed how it has impacted his blogging and his bank account. I'm impressed -- even as I head to my first megadollar month, he has done even better than I. He also talks about a number of other blog-for-pay companies that he has worked with, and with which I have had similar experiences.
By the way, Richard, I just want to tell you that I love that dragon banner. That is primo stuff!

You are going to plunk down a tremendous chunk of cash when you buy a house -- in part because of the commission you will pay to your real estate agent. But when you sell a house, you are also going to pay a commission to your agent. How would you like to save some of that money?
You can, by using ePerks.com to find your agent. I know I've got one agent in my area rebating 15% of her fees to those who come to her through ePerks.com. On a $200,000 home, that works out to over $1000! I don't know about you, but I wouldn't turn that much cash down.

I've mentioned that I spent several years in the seminary, studying to be a priest. That nearly didn't happen because of a problem I had not long before I was set to enter the seminary. No, not the sort of problem you read about in the papers. It was a credit card debt problem.
You see, when I finished graduate school I ran into a big problem. The teaching market was glutted, and I had priced myself out of many jobs by getting that masters degree. I spent the next two years working at a homeless shelter, making very little money. During that time, I slowly ran up my credit cards and was in need of debt help. However, a current bankruptcy filing s not looked upon as a plus for a prospective priest, and filing for bankruptcy while in the seminary would have been even worse.
What to do? Well, I was fortunate to be able to find debt help in the form of a debt consolidation loan. Having set up a debt management plan, I found a second job and payed off that bill consolidation in just a few months by applying every penny I could towards it. I was also able to draw my bank balances down to a minimum to repay every penny I owed and received an unexpected gift from a family member who had no knowledge of my situation. That let me go into the seminary debt-free a year earlier than I had anticipated. It was one of the greatest blessings -- and lessons -- of my life.
Now not everyone is in a position to do what I did. But through the use of a home equity loan and debt consolidation credit counseling, people can get out of the debt dilemma. And there are other options that can work for you, if you really interested and try.

I like playing backgammon. It is a fun game of skill and strategy. But when I enter a casino setting, my game of choice is Blackjack . I've always loved the game, and have ever since I learned it as a kid. Figuring out how to get to 21 is a lot of fun for me -- and I'm pretty good at it. And now I am pleased to see that one of my backgammonfavorite sites, BackgammonMasters.com, is offering blackjack to interested players.
This will be a great site for eh online gaming community. After all, BackgammonMasters.com is available in 10 different languages, allows for chat capabilities, and now, with its Blackjack game, will allow for 5-player games and the possibility of viewing a game in progress for a while before jumping in. Those are some neat features, and are expected to produce a 300% increase in traffic for BackgammonMasters.com.
Now you have seen my previous posts about this backgammon site in the past, BackgammonMasters.com, and their fantastic, high-quality offerings. With this expanded offering, there is even more of a reason for you to visit as they seek to dominate the world of online games of skill.
One neat thing about the neblackjack offering is that you can now log on and play up to four different games at once in their rich. three-dimensional gaming environment. You certainly can't do that in Vegas or Atlantic City, can you? Of course not -- you can only play one game at a time. And of course, you can also play Backgammon, Poker and Perudo at the site as well, so you really do have some incredible gaming opportunities available to you.

Well, one option for you is to donate that vehicle to a charity that will use it (or the proceeds from its sale) to help others. That is what CarAngel is all about -- taking your donated vehicle and touching the lives of others for Christ through that donation.
Now let's say that you wish to Donate Your Car In Los Angeles. Simply by visiting the CarAngel website, you can arrange for Los Angeles Car Donations. And once you donate the car and CarAngel disposes of it, they will post the information at their site and enable you to get the appropriate IRS paperwork for your taxes next spring.
What does CarAngel do? They partner with a number of other organizations to provide literacy training, food assistance, prison ministry and other charitable activities. They help with relief programs for children in other countries. CarAngel even offer Free DVDs for Kids to help spread the Good News.

The mortgage market is in turmoil right now, bringing uncertainty to other financial markets. One possibility is therefore a spike in Foreclosure proceedings against homeowners with weak credit and sub-prime loans.
But what can you do if you are facing Foreclosure? That is a question that most folks don't think about, and regarding which they have no plan. After all, the possibility of losing your home is unthinkable for most people -- and the circumstances under which such events happen are often quite dire. Let's be honest -- finding a good host for your website can be a challenge. After all, what should you look for? Is the size of the host a big deal? Is price your overriding factor? Is your focus bandwidth and reliability? It is hard to know where to begin.
Well, for seven years the folks at Wing Six have been providing outstanding internet and web hosting services to consumers in the Chicago area and beyond. That is an accomplishment in and of itself, because many hosting companies have been bought up by competitors or have disappeared. Others have become impersonal behemoths who have forgotten that every customer is important. Web Six hasn't done either.
In fact, the thing that is most surprising about Wing Six is that their customers like them -- they really like them (sorry -- I was channeling Sally Field for a moment). All you have to do is read the comments made about some other web site hosting companies to know that isn't always the case. Why is Wing Six different from the rest? Because they believe in First Class Hosting Done Right.
And if you need blog hosting, Wing Six has lots of experience hosting blogs and offers great service for you.
Best of all is that Wing Six also offers a fantastic reseller hosting package that can allow you to have your cake and eat it, too. Sign up a few other bloggers at a reasonable rate and you can defray the cost of running your own blog in the process. Best of all, Wing Six keeps everything up and running for you and your clients, so there is no hassle involved. What more can you ask for?
So if you are looking for someone to do your web hosting, look at Wing Six. You won't be sorry.

There is just something about handmade portraits that cannot be duplicated by a photograph. Seriously -- whether we are talking about portraits in oil, charcoal, or watercolor, there is a human dimension to the artwork that has a soul in a way that the product of a camera cannot capture.
PaintYourLife.com is a bridge between the two forms of art. They can take your photograph and turn it into a hand-crafted work of art -- an oil painting, a watercolor, charcoal sketch, or pencil drawing. Thin about it -- you can take that well-loved photo of you and your spouse and have it become that once-in-a-lifetime anniversary gifts for your spouse. You will be doing nothing short of creating a family heirloom that will be passed down through the generations.
Of course, PaintYourLife.com does not limit itself to people. If you are like my wife and I, you may have a very special pet who has become an integral part of your life. Preserve that faithful companion in portrait form. All you need is a favorite photo and they will do the rest.
Now one of the nice things about PaintYourLife.com is that their works of art are all crated by hand. A real artist will translate your photo into a unique work of art -- not a computer generated print like some services. Furthermore, they guarantee your satisfaction with the finished product, and will work with you until you are happy with the final portrait.

In the nineteenth century, it used to be the custom for guests to take a bit of the wedding cake home with them in a box. That was the "wedding favor" of the day. Well, with today's wedding receptions now long festive events with lots of eating and partying, that doesn't cut it -- the cake is consumed at the wedding itself.
Instead, newly married couples give out all manner of interesting little trinkets, knick-knacks, and other wedding favors to their guests.
Frankly, the number of items available is shocking. LittleThingsFavors.com, for example, has over 2600 different wedding favors available -- everything from candles and decorative soaps to photo frames, glasses, and more! And to celebrate the opening of their greatly expanded website, they are offering a 10% discount on orders over $50.00 (just use the coupon code "grandopening") and free shipping to anyplace n the 48 contiguous states and Canada via UPS Ground.
What can you get? Well, for starters, there are personalized Hershey's Miniatures and Kisses. You can also find place card holders, bath accessories and a whole host of personalized favors for your wedding guests.
Given our wedding colors, I suspect that these lavender roses would have ended up on every plate at our reception 12 years ago had they been available at the time -- they would have matched the lavender and purple roses in my bride's wedding bouquet.

There is also the dog groomer, the vet, the pharmacy, a couple of favorite restaurants. . . well, you get the idea. I've even got one listing the phone numbers of all the administrators from my school AND the SubFinder line.
Why are these magnets so great? Because when I need the phone numbers for these essential folks, I know right were to find them to make the call. And yes, they also promote brand loyalty.

I've always liked promotional mugs from different businesses that I've dealt with. Back during college, I made it something of a hobby of mine to scoop one up when I had the chance. I think I had a promotional mugs from every local radio station as well as political candidates of my party lined up along the edges of my bookshelves.
Needless to say, all those promotional mugs made my room the place to have a cup of coffee, cocoa or tea...
