Drug Rehab

Sponsored Post

Some folks fall prey to drug and/or alcohol addiction. In such cases, there needs to be some sort of intervention and treatment to deal with the addiction.

That is where StoneHawk, a drug rehab facility in Michigan, can be of assistance. StoneHawk provides drug addiction and alcoholism treatment using the Narconon program, which is a program that focuses on addiction as a biochemical process that can be overcome using behavioral approaches, with education providing of skills to assist an individual through daily life problems and disorders. StoneHawk is not a program of medical intervention, so it doesn't substitute one drug for another, which is really nothing more than a switch in drugs to be abused, with the twist of multiple addictions. The Narconon program's rejection of that approach is therefore a healthy thing in my eyes.

Hopefully you will never need a drug or alcohol rehab program, and neither will those you love. If you do, though, please consider StoneHawk as an option.

Renters Insurance

Sponsored Post

When I was younger, i never saw much of a need for Renters insurance, After all, didn't my landlord have a responsibility for anything that went wrong in my place?

I got lucky -- I never had anything serious go wrong. The same can't be said for the apartment below me, which got flooded when a pipe broke, destroying most of the furniture. They didn't have Renters insurance either -- and got no compensation for the damage because the problem was not due to any fault of our landlord. That was when I decided I needed to get some -- and I kept it as long as I rented a place.

Don't be foolish -- get yourself some Renters insurance -- and here is where you can find great rates here in Houston

PAYjr Visa Buxx

Sponsored Post

If you are like me, you grew up getting some sort of allowance related to doing household chores. It was a way of teaching us kids some responsibility, and the value of work. I remember that each week we boys would be standing in front of Dad waiting for the cash to be doled out.

Well times have changed. PAYjr Visa Buxxis a new system that lets parents put their child's allowance on a debit card. In effect, it allows for keeping a spreadsheet/checklist of chores for each child. As the chores get done, the money gets transferred to the child's debit card. No chores, no cash -- pretty simple. This way a parent can also monitor where and how the money is being spent -- and restrict certain transactions and locations.

If this sounds familiar to you, it may be because you heard about it on the CBS Evening News last week. The service launches in July, but you can check out the demo now at the PAYjr Visa Buxx website.

Air Ambulance

Sponsored Post

I never knew there was such a thing as air ambulance service when I was young. It never crossed my mind that such a service would be necessary. After all, I figured you went to the hospital and stayed until you got well -- or until you died.

And then family tragedy hit. My grandmother remarried to a wonderful man who swept her off her feet and promised to provide for her very well. He showed her a marvelous couple of years -- and then came the day that his cancer struck. He went into the hospital for treatment -- but the cancer was way too aggressive to be treated in the local hospital, and he was advised to head over 300 miles to a hospital in a major city associated with a very prestigious medical school. But the question was how to get this frail old man there -- because it was going to be at least seven hours by car.

And that is where an air ambulance service entered the picture. My uncle hooked up with a company that provided this critical medical transportation service. They made arrangements to get this sick family member from his hospital bed in a rural hospital to the local airport, and from there to a business airport just a few miles from the new hospital -- and then checked in. Total time from bed to bed? Only a little over four hours, and they were even able to continue his treatment in the process. Some months later, this same service brought him home, as the doctors pronounced his case terminal, these same folks brought him home again with great care and dignity. Indeed, they made the whole process as painless for him and the family as it could have been.

Now you know I do my advertising through PayPerPost, and I take available offers as they come up. By interesting coincidence, that same air ambulance service is now one of their advertisers. They are called Air Ambulance America. And while I profoundly hope you do not need ever need their services, I hope you will remember them if you ever do.

Student Loan Consolidation

I'll be honest -- I lucked out on my financial aid needs when I hit college. I didn't need much because of merit scholarships and a decent college fund. However, I did need to take out a couple of student loans to get me over the hump. But that didn't debt didn't go away easily after graduation, and I found myself having to pay off what seemed like a small fortune.

Fortunately, I was able to get a student loan consolidation package that really helped me out. I was fortunate to get to pay the thing off quickly, so I didn't have to swim in debt.

My darling wife, on the other hand, needed more in the way of student loans and other financial aid to make it through college and graduate school. She got the best student loan consolidation out there at the time, and we are working on retiring that debt as well.

And there are lots of programs out there for federal student loan consolidation, if you know where to look. That is where FinancialAid.com comes into the picture. How does the utango rewards programwork -- and how could it work for you. Simply put, you make your ordinary shopping purchases using the uTango program and you build up credits towards your eventual retirement savings nest-egg – up to $200 a year.

It begins by joining uTango. It is free, but the program is limited to thoee who are single, engaged, or married for less than three years. Parenting Teens

Sponsored Post

I work with teenagers every day. It isn't easy -- and I can only imagine how hard it is to actually parent one. Where do you turn for help when you don't know what to do for your teen? How do you deal with issues like teen curfew times, questionable friends, and the like?

Really, at that point parents need good information. Where can you find it? Try Parenting Teens, a site devoted to parenting teenagers. And I'll be honest -- I'm impressed with the section on education, and some of the questions it deals with. They are ones i know are dealt with at my school every day -- issues of sexual harassment, academic problems, bullying, and drugs. While I wish sites like this were not necessary, I'm pleased to see that this one is available.

There are a couple of other neat features at ParentingTeenagers.com as well. One is a referral list for parenting support groups, where parents can seek out the help of other parents who have faced or are facing the same sorts of problems. In addition, there is a forum where parents can seek help online from other parents who are struggling with or have struggled with the same sorts of issues. Such support is vital for parents.

HDTV Tuesdays

Sponsored Post

Well, it is the latest thing from my friends over at PayPerPost, where you can blog for money -- HDTV Tuesdays. It really is a neat idea -- a couple of posting opportunities will be offered on Tuesdays, seemingly no different from any other opportunity. Oh, yeah, there is one little detail -- there will be some sort of HDTV related prize associated with it, in addition to the regular posting payoff.

How can they do this crazy sounding thing? Where is the profit in this? Well, first off, it keeps us posties happy. After all, the possibility of some sort of bonus is really quite attractive. Secondly, it helps PPP and the posties develop a special relationship with the sponsoring advertisers -- in this case with Bid4Prizes.com, a really great site that i wrote about some time back. Trust me -- if I win a Playstation3 tomorrow, I'll be feeling really good about everyone!

So what do you have to do to get in on this deal? It is really quite simple. Click on the referral banner over on the right side of the blog, and it will take you right there. Or try out the "Review My Post" link down below, and you'll have another great way to sign up. Either way, you will quickly find yourself in the world of PayPerPost, and be making cash hand over fist by blogging. Menopause. It is a biological fact of life for women. They know it is coming, but rarely are they ready to deal with it when it does arrive. And when it does arrive, there are a host of changes that come with it -- physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual.

There is a website and ebook that deals with the issue of menopause relief. It is called Menopause A-to-Z, and operates from the following philosophical point of view.

From perimenopause to post-menopause, the change of life doesn't have to be traumatic. Here you'll find information and community to help you make it into the next exciting phase of your life!

Now that sounds like a neat idea to me -- a self-help and support group for women who are sharing the experience of change. In short, Menopause A-to-Z is a wide-ranging site for women struggling with that change of life -- designed to help them live life to the fullest.

The iPod is the latest entertainment/fashion must-have item in America today. They have even outstripped the cellular phone as the status item for students in school. But let's be honest -- they all look alike, so there has to be some way of making yours stand out as uniquely yours -- and protecting it from scratching and other damage.

Zofunk has cases for all the iPod lines. many of these are made from silicone, and are a mere 1mm thick. You don't even need to take the iPod out of the case to put it in the universal dock -- it is that thin!
Zofunk has cases designed for the video iPds, for 1GB and 2 GB iPod nanos. They protect the screens and the docking ports, so that you will be able to get the maximum use from your well-cared-for iPod.

Or better yet, you can get that headset , a case and a charger for a RAZR phone for only $59.95. I really don't understand how they manage to set prices like this, but they do -- and it can all be to your benefit.

Prosper Learning

Sponsored Post

What is Prosper learning? That was my first question when I heard about prosperlearning. It turns out that it is the method for business success through mentoring being offered to small business people by Prosper, Inc.

A US Business Review article last year offers this insight into the business.

While each student is paired with a mentor who best fits his or her goals and experience level from the course, each mentor only works with a select group of students at a time, and receives compensation based on the success of their students. "The true differentiating factor in our company is that each student receives customized training in their specific course of study, with a mentor who has been chosen based on both personality and expertise," Willis says.

In addition, students are offered enrollment through an invitation-only process to ensure each person is fully committed to the program and motivated to achieve their goals. "As a company, the most important unit of measurement is that we're turning out success stories," Willis asserts. "We know that people will find success if they work hard at each program. One of the most crucial elements is that each student has the right qualifications and is able to work well with our coaches."

Now think about that. Prosper, Inc. does not offer you a DVD and a book in a box and tell you that you are on your own. It assigns you a mentor who has a stake in your success. Indeed, Prosper, Inc. only invites the best into its program, so that the probability of success is increased for the client/student.

Does it work? I guess so -- over 30,000 successful clients cannot be wrong.

I Love PayPerPost!

Really, it has been great to be working with these folks doing consumer generated advertising. They sure beat those banner ads and text ads all to heck in terms of productivity. And even if I haven't been eligible for all of the big offers, and have even had one or two rejections along the way, i feel I have been well-treated by them in the three months that I've been grabbing opportunities to advertise on blogs.

How much have I made? Well, let's say that this week will pull in more than I have from AdSense in a year. Heck, I might even drop all those ads in the site redesign that is coming up -- that will certainly make my site seem a bit more sleek. And as for where it is going, there are needs following my wife's hospital stays -- and maybe even the chance to take her on that Alaska Cruise in the next year or two!

Gift Baskets

I like picking out nice gifts for friends and family members, but I don't always know what to get. It isn't that i don't care or don't have good taste, but rather that I don't always have the time to do the shopping or the originality to come up with a neat gift. That's when I turn to gift baskets -- and there are some excellent ones at GiftBasketsPlus.com.

Rather than go out and buy the same chain-store onesies, I can find a neat baby gift basket that contains a number of quality items that are needed for the new arrival. Or there are personalized piggy banks, a cute gift that will be treasured for years. And there are lots of other gift baskets available, for every occasion.

After all, as I look at my calendar, I see a number of times I might be tempted to buy for someone at GiftBasketsPlus.com. My brother has a birthday in two weeks. My parents have their 46th wedding anniversary early next month. Heck, my wedding anniversary is coming up – followed by my darling wife’s birthday in rapid succession. And let’s not forget that Mother’s Day is Sunday – there is still time to order, even if your gift might be tardy. So drop by and take a look around

Credit Cards

Let's be honest about credit cards -- they are the avenue to so much information about us, and can be both a source of financial opportunity and financial danger. I mean, one need only consider the recent breaches of credit card security to realize that they can be the vehicle to your personal information, and allow great financial mischief to be made in your life. On the other hand, some credit card issuers monitor for fraud and act if they see strange transactions, like one of mine did in the days before Hurricane Rita, since my purchase of evacuation supplies and material to board up my house were seen as unusual by my standard of usage. They called me to make sure that the transactions were authorized. That shows that some companies are out to protect our interests when they coincide with their interests -- such as fraud prevention.

Loans

Sometimes you just need to borrow money.

Let's face it -- cars and houses alone are purchases that almost any person will need a few (or more than a few) years to pay off. After all, do who has a spare 100K sitting around to pay cash for a new home -- or even 15-25K for a car? Heck, if you are like most average middle class people, there just isn't that sort of extra money available, even if you break open the kids' piggy banks and search beneath the cushions of the living room furniture..

And it is times like that when you find yourself seeking loans to help you make that special purchase.

Maybe you need a Secured Loans for a particularly valuable purchase. Maybe you are looking at car loans or mortgages, trying to find the perfect deal. Perhaps you are just looking the options available in UnsecuredLoans to meet a temporary need.

Regardless, you may want to consider SelectLoans.co.uk when next you need a loan.

RockStartup!

What can I say about the folks at PayPerPost? Here they are, trying to create a whole new paradigm for advertising in the blogosphere, but they still have time to poke a little fun at themselves and the enterprise they are trying to launch. That speaks of a confidence that you have to respect -- and a humility that one has to love. That project is lovingly named RockStartup, and is the company's venture into internet a reality tv.

What do i like about RockStartup? Well, to be honest, I like the opportunity to see some of the folks I am working with. You know, Ted may be a bit of a geek, but he is a geek with a sense of humor and a drive to make his company work against the odds. And the willingness to give us all a bit of a glimpse inside the serious (yet sometimes zany) world of PPP is really sort of a blessing for me.

Oh, and about episode 21 (which you can see up above) , let me warn you -- it is the outtake/blooper reel for the show through the first 20 episodes. I guess I knew that this collection of errors, muffs, and screw-ups had to exist, but I hadn't given it much thought. On a personal level, to see the pratfalls of familiar episodes was sort of neat.

Something Special

I love that special lady in my life, and I sometimes like to get her something a little alluring and sexy as a gift -- well, to be honest, as a gift for us both. But it isn't always easy to find Plus Size Lingerie.

And I'll be honest, there is the modesty issue to consider -- baby doll outfits are out. But something longer might be just the bill. Or maybe something that is less revealing but certainly feminine.

The reality is that every woman wants to be sexy sometimes (and to know that we still find them irresistible) -- and there are places online for discrete shopping to help towards that end. So gentlemen, why don't you consider buying a gift of Sexy Lingerie for the woman in your life, just to let her know she is still every bit as beautiful as the day you married her.

Mortgage Site

I hear a lot about mortgage brokers n the radio. Some are national, some are local. But are we really getting the best deal if we apply with one of them? Can we check out some competition -- especially regarding Mortgage Rates?

Yes, we can, at PersonalHomeLoanMortgages.com. We can even check out rates by state, for example by looking for Houston Mortgages or http://www.personalhomeloanmortgages.com/texas/texas_mortgages.asp. It is that easy!

Really, all my supervisors are great at school -- but I've not always been that lucky. I had one principal some years back who just couldn't be bothered to do employee reviews at all. He just didn't bother, so you never knew where you stood.

If you are a boss and need some help doing performance reviews, there is some great new software out there to help you. Check out ManagerAssistant.com to learn more.

Credit Card Offers

Like most folks, I havecredit cards -- they are the avenue to so much information about us, and can be both a source of financial opportunity and financial danger. I mean, one need only consider the recent breaches at so many retailers and banks to recognize just how much of your personal information is out there in your credit card records. Such information in the wrong hands can ruin you. On the other hand, responsible credit card issuers will monitor your card's activities and make contact to stop fraud in its tracks. One of mine did that during our hurricane evacuation. So it does seem that the companies are out to protect our interests when they coincide with their interests.

However, there are benefits to credit cards, in terms of finding an offer that will save you money by allowing 0% balance transfers or 0% credit cards. Shop around for the best offers -- that is just a part of being a wise consumer.

Loans

Seeking out credit and loans are a part of our society. The average person simply can't make some purchases, like a car or a house, without borrowing money. When faced with such purchases, secured loans are usually the only realistic option out there, with the lender having a lien on your house or car. In a sense, the lender is the real owner of at least some portion of the property until you have fulfilled your end of the bargain, right?

Secured loans, though, are not the only sort of personal loans you might need. You can get an unsecured loan in many instances -- especially as we look at credit card debt. Too many folks find themselves taking out a loan to consolidate debt so that they can lower payments and interest rates, as well as extending the time one has to pay off the debt. This can be a great help, provided one does not run up additional debt. There is even the possibility of a bad credit loan being available for those who have already gone to far down the road of debt, to help them repair their credit rating.

Borrow only when you have to, and only to the degree that you can afford to pay back. Otherwise you face bankruptcy -- with all the credit and personal implications that implies.
