Drug abuse and alcoholism happen in our society. They occur among the rich and the poor -- even athletes and celebrities are not immune from addictions. As a teacher, I am well aware that addiction happens among my students and in every classroom in every high school in the country -- and among younger students as well. A substance abuse problem can be devastating to a student's academic success.
That's why I like the idea of Sober College, a drug rehab treatment program for young people that not only is that is not only interested in helping them with their substance abuse problems, but also with providing them with the academic resources that help them get back on track in life. It is a 3-12 month program, residential in nature, and with a state of the art education and learning center where academics, counseling and vocational support are provided to all clients. When they have completed their program, these young people are not just equipped for sobriety -- they are also equipped with academic and job skills that will help them ove beyond their prior problems and succeed in the real world.

However, some folks do a lot of business driving. I've got one colleague, for example, who also delivers pizza for a local place as he and his wife save up money for a house. That's where I found out that there is a real issue involving insurance when you drive for business. Indeed, your Car Insurance might not cover you at all if you are using the car for business purposes when your loss occurs. You need to make sure you discuss the issue of business use of your vehicle with your insurance agent before you have a loss, to make sure you have the correct coverage.
Now IÂ’ve been fortunate with my insurance experiences. My father was in the military when I was a kid, so when I turned 16 my father immediately got me car insurance through the same military-oriented insurance company that he used. I've just never switched, given that every time I've looked the rates have been better than any of the companies out there despite the fact that car insurance premiums are rising. I guess that loyalty pays in some cases when you are looking for the Cheapest Car Insurance.
And if you are looking for Car Insurance Online, Kwik-FitInsurance.com offers a great selection of insurance options. You can get insurance for your car, van, truck, or motorcycle. Not only that, but they also have various other types of insurance available – insurance for your home, your business, and even your pet. You see, it pays to shop around for Online Car Insurance.

I was amazed that there is actually a site, Octopus.com, that is devoted entirely to resources on and information about the octopus. It just goes to prove that there really is a website for everything -- and in this case, it provided us with enough resources (including a list of books available at the local branch library) that our search for information was over in a matter of minutes.

Of course, the game has a number of names, because not everyone can say “cornhole” with a straight face. The game is also called corntoss and bean bag toss, and involves (now get ready for a real shocker here, folks) throwing bean bags into a hole in a board. And there is even a store located in Illinois that specializes in equipment for the game, with a website at Cornhole-Game.org.
One of the items I saw on the website is what they call the tailgate cornhole set. It might be neat to get one and paint it up with a Houston TexanÂ’s emblem and carry it with us to the games for a little git of entertainment while we are tailgating. After all, the sets are compact, durable, and would certainly fit in the trunk while we go in and enjoy the game after a good meal and a couple of drinks with friends.

That’s why I love the internet – I can start to give shape to my ideas of the perfect room just by looking around at furniture that is available online. By visiting sites like Home-and-bedroom.com, I can get great ideas about how to redecorate the bedroom. I can browse through their collections of bedroom furniture and begin to visualize what certain pieces will look line in my home. One of the best things about the site though, other than the great interior decorating ideas, are the prices on their pieces, whether we are talking about Metal Beds or complete fashion bed groups from manufacturers like Hillsdale Furniture. They are definitely affordable!
I can honestly say, Home-and-bedroom.com has given me some great ideas that I will be coming back to as the process of redecorating slowly moves forward.

AQHost is a hosting company that offers a wide variety of cheap business web hosting services, from ecommerce hosting and business hosting to blog hosting featuring an installed version of Movable Type. They also offer turn-key solutions for your online needs. After all, many of us who are active bloggers really don’t care about the nuts and bolts operation of our host’s setups – we just want it to work quickly and painlessly. The same is true of many folks who set up online stores. The quicker they can use their cheap ecommerce

One neat thing about bars and bartenders is that they manage to keep old drinks original and exciting. If you are looking for ways to do so, you can visit absolutdrinks.com for some new twists on preparing drinks and cocktails. There is a section on holiday drinks, as well as how to change-up the classic drinks like my favorite, the Screwdriver. You can mix drinks online and save them to your own recipe book. There is a lotto learn and a lot to share. But remember – always drink responsibly.

Among other places, I've been looking at the Fashion Bed Group sets online at Home and Bedroom and have found some inexpensively priced groups that would help give our home a new feel. They are beautiful, good quality and within our budget! There are several that would be great in our bedroom, including one with a sleigh bed like my wife has always wanted.
I also looked at a couple of the daybeds from Hillsdale Furniture that are featured on the website. We have an extra bedroom we could turn into a sitting room/television room right next to our bedroom, and it would be good for visitors -- or for me for those nights when she either cannot sleep or needs to not have me shaking the bed.
Have I found the perfect furniture solution yet? No – but I’ll keep on looking.

Looking for a Mexican vacation get-away? IÂ’ve got an idea for you. Imagine a place overlooking the Sea of Cortez, sucking up the sunÂ’s rays in Sonora.
Places like that are the specialty of the folks at Oceano-Rentals.com, where you can book your very own Rocky Point condo rental with luxury beach-front accommodations.
Think about it -- a beautiful Santa Fe style house with every amenity. They have it. Or maybe a townhouse near the beach. You can get it. Or perhaps a condo with an ocean view. You can reserve it right now.
And even better, you are dealing with a US-based company when you make arrangements with all transactions conducted in American funds, so there is no worry about exchange rates. You can pick up your keys at their American office and continue your driving to Mexico -- it is right on your way through Arizona, only an hour from the border.

Of course, there are some businesses that I have no problem using online. For example, I think that ProFlowers.com would be quite capable of delivering their current featured coupon item without too much difficulty, and with good quality control. IÂ’m quite certain that if I use ProFlowers coupons I will get a great product that the person receiving them and I will be happy with. I've never been disappointed with ProFlowers.com -- and the only time I had a problem, they sent my mom a superior replacement item to my mother.
Similarly, clothing items are usually safe to purchase if they come from a big company that you know. My wife likes to buy from certain stores that she knows, because she knows how their clothes fit. For her, Lillian Vernon coupons help her expand her wardrobe at a bargain price.
In the end, of course, it comes down to finding companies that you know are reputable and have a quality product – just like when you deal with the brick and mortar stores.

But I recently found a neat product that I think has some real potential to make that holiday more environmentally friendly and energy efficient -- LED holiday lights. These special lights burn bright but do so in a sensible way – reducing the amount of energy used by about 80-90%, since they only burn about 4 watts of electricity for every string of lights. These lights have a long life, too – some 50,000 hours, which makes them last longer than any standard bulb I’ve ever encountered. Even more interesting is the fact that these LED Xmas lights burn at only a single degree over room temperature, minimizing the danger of fire in even the driest of real Christmas trees.
I’m also fascinated by the many different stiles of LED Christmas lights that are offered. You can get a round raspberry shape, a traditional strawberry shape, or a standard mini light. They even have a special design – pure white snowflake light! I suspect my darling wife would want some of those to go on the tree, given the lack of snow here in Houston.
Now I will acknowledge one thing – these lights will cost you more than regular Christmas lights. But given their beauty, their durability, and their energy efficiency, you can probably pay off the difference in as little as one holiday season, so they are most certainly worth it.

Speaking of my students, a number of them have been really excited by Gossip Girl on The CW. Since they are all into MySpace and FaceBook, they are fascinated with the notion that one anonymous individual could spread all the latest dirt online in complete anonymity. They say they’d like to out the Gossip Girl – and at least one indicates that she might come to an unpleasant end for “bein’ all up in everybody’s bidness.†Makes me wonder how long a real-life Gossip Girl would make it at my school.
Will the Gossip Girl be outed? Will it make a difference? That is something that we will have to see in future episodes!

Frankly, I wish I had knows about DTIData last year when my old computer's hard drive went down. The hard drive had gone bad, and the computer would not even update. I tried to fix it myself, and even tried to get a friend with greater expertise than I to fix the problem. It was impossible with our resources. As a result, I lost several years of course materials for my classes, my resume, research notes for a possible book (growing out of my Masters thesis work) and the graphics my wife uses for her craft projects.
But if DTIData could have done Hard Drive Recovery for me, they would have likely gotten back all the data for me. All I would have needed to do was give them a call or submit an online request for an estimate, and then ship them the hard drive for them to work their magic on.
My hard drive would have been taken into their class 100 clean room for their technicians to go to work on it. There would have been no diagnostic fee – we already know the drive is dead. Instead, they would begin work on the data recovery, with every step of the process logged for me to know exactly what is happening and how the project is going. Their goal is 100% hard drive data recovery, and so their policy is that you are not charged a dime if there is no data recovered, or if they fail to get it all back for you. And regardless, they can usually complete their work in 2-5 business days -- because they know that time is money.
I hope you never need the services if DTIData. But if you do, they are tops at what they do.

You can get a card with 0% on purchases and balance transfers for six months, or you can choose a card that earns money for your favorite organization. Really, you have the chance to do business with a bank that shares your values and gives you an excellent bargain as well.
One of the neat things, though, is that the bank operates on the following principles.
Through our investments, we seek to support the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In line with this, we will not invest in:
* any government or business which fails to uphold basic human rights within its sphere of influence.
* any business whose links to an oppressive regime are a continuing cause for concern.
An excellent set of principles given the current state of the world, don't you think?

I am always fascinated by trade show booths and displays at events I attend. Some are quite basic, but others get rather elaborate. Who designs these displays, and where do you get the supplies you need to best market your wares to the most interested and motivated audience you are likely to encounter? Try GodfreyGroup.com for a wide variety of custom and portable trade show displays, display graphics, signage, banner stands, trade show rentals, merchandising and retail displays, light boxes, literature displays, table top exhibits, and more that will make your display stand out from the crowd. So if you need to attract customers at that next event (and you wouldn’t be there if you didn’t), visit Godfrey Group.

Online furniture shopping is in some ways a much better experience. You can browse a website to find just the item you want from the comfort of your own home, without someone pressuring you to buy a particular home office desk that is being pushed by the boss this week. And rather than trotting around miles of showroom displays, you can compare all the dining room furniture or living room furniture on your own computer screen.
FurnitureFromHome.com provides you with the chance to do exactly that. They have as wide a range of furniture selections as your local furniture mega-store, but you don't need a sherpa and a couple of guide dogs to browse through it. All you need to do is point and click and there it is for you. And it is fine furniture at great prices, so you know you are getting a good deal. Indeed, the only drawback I see is the inability to examine it up close and personal -- while the delivery time on the furniture seems a bit long to me, it is not any longer than the usual back-order that you get at most furniture stores. Best of all, you can cancel or change your order at any time before shipping without penalty, which is something that most furniture stores don't allow. So unless you need it right now, this may be the best way to buy.

That's where MyWallSt.net comes into the picture as a great online community and resource for those interested in investing and making money -- whether as a big investor or a small one. It brings together interested individuals and many resources to share knowledge and ideas related to investing and investment strategy.
One nice thing about MyWallSt.net is that it operates in real time. There is none of the time delay that one encounters as a reader of books that are months (or even years) out or date, or even business periodicals (which are often weeks or days behind, just due to printing and delivery time). You are getting information RIGHT NOW about what is going on in the market, and how to take advantage of it. And with friends and mentors working together, you can certainly speed up that learning curve that all new investors have.
Oh, and did I mention that they also have a “fantasy league†for rookie investors, giving them a chance to make those novice mistakes with fantasy money – and win prizes as well.
Seriously, folks, this is a sight worth seeing – drop by and take a look.

One year I waited until the last minute, and found myself forced to recycle the clerical collar from my seminary days and add some cheap black makeup so that I looked like a colleague at the Catholic school where I taught. It wasn't convincing.
This year, though, I want to wear something to scare the be-jeebers out of the neighborhood kids as they come around the house.
Option number one would certainly stand out -- the Emperor of Darkness. It is bright, it looks sharp, and could certainly convey a frightening face for the evening. After all, that long red robe and the black accessories do sort of stand out-- and if I use a light makeup that appears more deathly than satanic, I believe I would do well. After all, down here in Houston the warm night and high humidity would cause me to sweat like a pig in all that greasepaint. Something more powdery and pale would be more comfortable.
On the other hand, there is also this Gravedigger costume. It would let me blend into the darker surroundings of my front yard, and certainly has a creepier air to it. The makeup seems to be less intensive that fits well with the character, so it allows me to use my natural abilities.
Where can you go to get these costumes and more? Costume Cauldron has a great online present with over 14,000 costumes in stock for you to choose from. Their site is well, organized and easy to use, and includes great pictures and easy to find prices. They even have a good discount for you if you click on the comma in the line that reads “Our Store now has over 14,000 masquerade items for you to choose from!â€
