Sullivan Does Not Get It On Gun Rights

Andrew Sullivan asks what, it seems to me, is a really dumb question here.

If gun rights are civil rights, why would anyone feel the need to hide the fact that they own one?

I suppose one could also ask why, if freedom of speech and association are civil rights, one would wish to engage in anonymous speech or keep one's membership in political organizations secret. Doesn't Sullivan believe in a right to privacy?

1 Brilliant analysis.  Similarly, those of us who believe that contraception is a constitutional right should only have sex in public.

It blows my mind how foolish some of our paid  pundits are . . .

2 Be careful -- a homosexualist like Sullivan might go for public sex, since sodomy is the newest constitutional right decreed by the Supreme Court.

3 Well technically those records are public. But the Tennesean publishing them in the first place is a much greater problem than Sully's POV. Sully has preconceived notions while the Tennesean has a lack of journalistic standards and a case of bias.
