Imagine The Response If A Republican Said This

Republicans are presumed to be bigots by the Left, despite the long history of Democrat intolerance. Not to mention comments like this that regularly fall from the mouths of Democrat politicians.

They say the main thing standing between Joe Biden and the White House is Joe BidenÂ’s mouth.

The would-be presidential candidate proved it again on a recent trip to New Hampshire, where C-Span cameras caught him telling an Indian-American activist that Indian-Americans are the fastest-growing immigrant group in Delaware.

In fact, Biden said, “You cannot go into a Dunkin Donuts or a 7-Eleven unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

I'm curious -- where is the uproar? Where is the outrage? Certainly this is much more offensive than Trent Lott's courtly compliment to a centenarian.

1 Um, let's see. Biden makes a stupid comment suggesting that Indian-Americans mostly just run convenience stores and other such businesses. Lott suggested that we'd all be better off if we'd kept blacks segregated. Hmm, can't imagine why people find Lott's comment far more offensive.

2 And that is not what he said or intended -- especially given the.

He was doing the equivalent of telling Great-Aunt Tillie at the nursing home that she looks beautiful today. In no way could a reasonable person find an endorsement of segregation in that -- which is why the Left went stark raving insane over the comment.

3 Is Biden a racist? I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But when you drive race cars for a living, you have to accept that people will pay money to see you crash. Biden yanked the wheel pretty hard on this one and, were the beltway an actual oval, Biden’s blue Dunkin Donuts #711 Dodge would be burning faster right now than any hope he ever had at sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office.

4 I think that Lott unwittingly suggested just what I said above. I don't think he meant it that way, but when you say we would be better off had someone who ran on a segregationist platform become president, it's hard not to see where the comment points.

That said, I don't ascribe any evil intentions to it; it was a gaffe of Lott's part, but a man in his position should think harder about what comes out of his mouth.

And the same for Biden - what a stupid comment. But I think you're trying to create a partisan issue here where there isn't one.
