Byrd Savages Vick

To be honest, I can't disagree with the substance of these remarks by Senator Robert Byrd, clearly directed at Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick.

"The Book of Proverbs in the Holy Bible, the King James Bible, tells us a righteous man regardeth the life of his beast but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel," Byrd said. "The immortal Dante tells us the divine justice reserves special places in Hell for certain categories of sinners. Madam president, I am confident -- madam president, I am confident that the hottest places in Hell are reserved for the souls of sick and brutal people who hold God's creatures in such brutal and cruel contempt! I yield the floor."

I'm curious, Senator -- what of sick and brutal people who hold God's children in contempt based upon race. You know, members of the KKK, an organization dedicated to the brutal, cruel, and sadistic oppression of African-Americans, Jews, Catholics and Republicans that you proudly joined and recruited for in your youth. Have you ever issued such a stinging (and well-deserved) condemnation of a group that you once described as "needed today as never before". Would you care to offer a condemnation of those who would proclaim that "ather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds"? Or do dogs have a higher place in your hierarchy of being than "race mongrels" and "the blackest specimen from the wilds"?

I'd be curious to know the answers to these questions -- after all, it would tell us whether the former Kleagle was speaking on principle, or merely because it gave him the opportunity to verbally lynch another prominent black man.

1 "Surrender and retreat." Your diatribe here about Iraq misses the mark most of the time. We idiotically let the president and his hawks go to war-a war that can neither be lost nor won-and the US has lost thousands of lives and Iraq has lost 10's of thousands of lives and for what? Power, vengeance, and oil (read: wrath and greed).

However, to pull out now is a desecration to the honor of soldiers (from all the nations still there) and we, the people of the United States, should honor our commitment and our soldiers(even though that commitment was based on lies and half-truths that we continually perpetuate in our imperialism and the greed and pride that fuels it).

Thank you,

2 Time for you to get off the sauce, Frank -- your semi-lucid comment has nothing to do with the post. Are you simply wandering from blog to blog spamming everyone with the same comment whether it fits or not? Or are you simply too stupid to know how to respond to the correct blog entry?

3 Byrd has in fact condemned the KKK and apologized for his involvement with them, which was OVER 50 YEARS AGO. I don't recall Trent Lott or Jesse Helms ever apologizing for their earlier advocacy of segregation.

4 Nice lie -- Lott never advocated segregation. As for Helms, he has never been described as the conscience of the Senate.

For that matter, the Byrd quotes I gave come from a period AFTER he claims to have quit and disassociated himself from the KKK. And let's not forget -- he holds the distinction of being the only US Senator to vote against BOTH African-Americans to sit on the US Supreme Court.

5 Also, unlike Robert Byrd, neither Lott nor Helms was ever a member of a terrorist organization.

6 Are you saying people have no right to defend their property from envasion of another state (the north) or unruly judges? The KLAN is against everything REAL conservatives are. The failure of the great(pathetic) society is most obvious. How much more cash will it take? How many more will be offered on the altar of diversity- will your child be next? Is someone elses child less valuable? Lincoln freed noone he enslaved us all! Name one thing you do in this country your not taxed or given license to do. It was about control, and the socialism we enjoy today is the result. What more do you need to secede? Another Ruby Ridge, WACO, OKC, JFK assassination, 9-11 (no proof a plane hit pentagon) Veitnam, Korea, IRAQ 1&2.... another Klinton GOD forbid

7 p.s. I'll never appoligize for the color GOD made me. If people act like animals or savages I'll call them one. The same goes for the stupid and immature. I don't drive niggardly, you should'nt either.

8 I am stunned by Tim's comments -- a Kluxer and a Truther! I'm amazed that someone of such a low IQ can even operate a breath independently, much less type.
