A Message From The Democrats

NOTE TO LEFTISTS AND OTHER INTELLECTUALLY DEFICIENT FOLKS: SATIRE

harryloser.jpg

Of course, some things never change.

* "I believe . . . that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week."--Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, April 19, 2007

* "Resolved, that this convention does explicitly declare, as the sense of the American people, that after four years of failure to restore the Union by the experiment of war, during which, under the pretence of military necessity, or war power higher than the Constitution, the Constitution itself has been disregarded in every part, and public liberty and private right alike trodden down, and the material prosperity of the country essentially impaired, justice, humanity, liberty, and the public welfare demand that immediate efforts be made for a cessation of hostilities, with a view to an ultimate convention of the States or other peaceable means, to the end that at the earliest practicable moment peace may be restored on the basis of the federal Union of the States."--1864 Democratic platform

H/T Lundesigns & Michelle Malkin

UPDATE: Even Harry Reid's hometown paper thinks he is out of line.

1 This is a despicable post.  Rightwingers, who profess to support the troops, are the first to call them names when they think it helps them score a political point.  You have a hit a new low.

I'll withdraw my criticism if you can show my where Reid called our troops losers.  But you can't.  You did that.  You took his position (a position that many, many troops and most Americans agree with), and twisted it into a vile, sick little sight gag for the amusement of unthinking people.

How sick do you need to be to sit on your butt stateside and post insults about our troops under the pathetic delusion that you are supporting them?

2 No, Dan, I do not make fun of the troops -- and i stand by this characterization of Reid's position.

If we have lost in Iraq, the clear implication is that the troops there are losers. Indeed, given the comments of John Kerry and other Democrats about the sort of person they believe ends up in the military, it is clear that the standard Democrat position is that these folks are losers for even being in the military in the first place.

3 No, that's simply wrong. Reid did not call the troops losers. You called the troops losers, under some pathetic scummy word game where you think you can get away with it because Reid almost said something kind of like it first. Awful. Stop trying to change the subject, and own up to the fact that you called the troops losers because you wanted to score some kind of political cheapshot on Reid.

Please, for once, show some moral courage and admit you were wrong for calling the troops losers.

4 I've not called the troops losers -- that is the position of harry Reid, John Murtha, John Kerry, and most of the rest of the leading Democrats.

And Dan -- we will continue to point that out time and again.

5 You are a despicable coward if you sit here stateside and call our troops cowards. Harry Reid has not called the troops losers. You and Malkin have. Now you're backpedalling and trying to claim you have excuses, but you cannot live down the fact that you called the troops losers, and Harry Reid did not.

Now, don't go trying to change the subject or twist the words of others. Reid has not called the troops losers. You have.

Posted by: Dan at Sat Apr 21 11:12:10 2007 (IU21y)

6 No, Dan, we haven't -- but Harry Reid and other Democrats have with their statements that we have lost the war in Iraq.

You are either a liar or a fool if you argue otherwise.

7 Here is a quotation you posted on your site: "bring our losers home." That is taken from Rhymes with Right. Now you say you haven't had that on your site? Now you're claiming that Harry Reid has said that? Come on, show me where!

You can't, because you are a despicable coward.

8 Why on Earth would you call our troops losers!?!?! What the frick?!?!? Heck of a way to show your support of our troops. I didn't hear Reid call our troops losers but I SAW IT on your blog!

Our troops are NOT losers R w R, their leaders here at home our the losers.

9 Looks like Leftists are so stupid that they don't understand satire -- or the clear implication of statements by their own leaders.

Especially when I juxtapose the Reid statement with the statement of the Democrat platform of 1864, written a matter of months before that same "failure" resulted in victory.

Apologize -- hell no, because I am not calling the troops losers. They are not -- but Reid and the Neo-Copperhead Democrats are.

10 At this stage, we're just going to have to disagree. I say you called the troops losers, and I can quote from your own website. You say that Harry Reid called them losers, but you're making that up, and can't show us where he did so. Anything else you have to say is just double-talk.

Posted by: Dan at Sun Apr 22 01:47:33 2007 (IU21y)

11 Dan -- I guess we'll also just have to agree that you are not bright enough to understand satire, a concept taught in every 10th grade English class.

12 Satire is a tricky tool, best not attempted by fools.

Posted by: Dan at Sun Apr 22 08:57:24 2007 (IU21y)

13 And oft misunderstood by literalist tools.
