You know, medical technology is amazing. The things we can do today to improve people’s lives and health is incredible. Some of them are major advances in health, while others make life more convenient and pleasant – things such as Lasik. I’m old enough to remember when contact lenses were the big convenience for improving eyesight – now it is possible to have a Lasik procedure and make one’s eyesight normal, without any sort of corrective lens at all!

Now I’ll be honest – the thought of having someone cut my eye does make me a bit squeamish – but the Lasik procedure has been around long enough now that we know it is fast, safe, and effective. What’s more, it improves the quality of life by giving folks normal eyesight without the hassle of glasses or contacts. I’ll admit – at times that seems like an attractive option to me, given my own thirty-five year love/hate relationship with glasses and contact lenses to correct my own vision. Indeed, I’m told that Lasik is quick, convenient, and relatively pain-free – so what’s to lose?
