Brain Tumor Breakthrough
Kids are not supposed to die. As a child, you "know" that is "the truth". I believed that truth with a certainty -- until my neighbor Tammy was diagnosed with a brain tumor right after we started third grade. By Easter, Tammy was gone -- but only after a series of surgeries and other treatments that left her bereft of her beautiful hair, in frequent pain, and often too ill to sit up due to the nausea and weakness brought on by the treatment. They just couldn't get to all of the cancer. It has been thirty-five years, but I still weep when I think of her and her suffering.

There is a new brain tumor treatment out there called the Gamma Knife. I'm not a medical expert to give you details, but I do hope and pray it measures up to the website's claims. After all, I long for the day when there will be no more Tammys -- because I still believe, with all my heart, that kids are not supposed to die.
