When I mention romance to my students in tenth grade, they don't get the concept. Some of the boys understand when I tell them that the girl they are with is much too good for them, and they need to start treating her that way. Some seem to get the point -- and the girls buy into that concept because they do want to be treated like a lady.
But even once you find that perfect mate, whether by fate or through a service like eHarmony, a relationship still needs to be nurtured with a dash of romance from time to time.
In my case, I like to leave little love notes for my wife. Maybe the screensaver will start to flash a romantic message. Other days there might be a hidden in a pill bottle her back is particularly bothering her. IÂ’ve even left a note taped around the dog's collar!
One of my ways of keeping romance alive involves a little bit of physical labor on my part – I push her wheelchair when we are out. If I cannot walk through the store holding her hand or go into a restaurant with her on my arm, at least I can provide her source of horsepower. After all, anything can be romantic if you make it so -- because there is Romance for Everyone if you wish to create it.
