Having been shown stats that indicate that members of the armed forces are less likely to be black, poor, or high school dropouts than the American population at large, Rangel was asked a very simple question.
Isn't the volunteer Army better educated and more well to do than the general population?
His response shows the degree of contempt for the US military that exists in his shriveled, anti-American, left-wing heart.
Of course not. I want to make it abundantly clear: if thereÂ’s anyone who believes that these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits. And most all of them come from communities of very, very high unemployment. If a young fella has an option of having a decent career or joining the army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq.
Got that -- even though the FACTS show that the members of today's military are more educated and from more affluent backgrounds than at any point in our nation's history, Rangel argues that they are simply poor, dumb screw-ups with no options in civilian life. Given his own contempt for America, I guess that Rangel cannot fathom patriotism and service to one's country, rather than the partisanship and service to himself that Rangel has engaged in for decades in Congress.
So let's remember that Charlie Rangel is the "new" face of the Democrat Party -- despite being a hack politician who has served (himself) in Congress for decades.
And if you wonder why this angers me so, it is because I heard the same sort of crap about Vietnam vets growing up -- raised by a father whose career was serving this country in the United States Navy, including multiple tours in Vietnam. And I remember watching him struggle to serve our country by day and complete both a masters Degree and a Doctorate by night -- so that upon retirement he could spend the next two decades running a Job Corps Center, overseeing a group of Job Corps Centers in the Northwest, and finally end his second career (in education) as a college professor. My father did not serve because he had no choices or no brains -- he served because of a great love for this country that he still manifests to this day, a half century after he joined the Navy straight out of college.
And I know that the men and women of the US military serving today in Iraq are every bit the equal in intelligence, ability, and love of country as he was back then, when he joined and when he continued to serve with pride during Vietnam and the dark years for the military that followed.

Rangel is right, whether or not he uses similar arguments as do America Firsters on the issue. "Bright" individuals, you see, would usually recognize by now (actually since the release of the Kay report in 2004) that the war is immorally staged via false contrived reasons. I don't believe similar chicanery about Vietnam came out as early, and the "domino theory" still had wide acceptance.
(A "bright" individual would realize by now that ragtag jihadists without an Army, Navy or Air Force do not pose a serious threat of take over to America, and brighter still would have read of the leaked CIA reports establishing the occupation is increasing not decreasing the "terror" threat here.)

I believe those who would lie to the servicemen, like Bush, and those who would keep them in harm's way in a no-win war are those who have contempt for them.

1) There were no lies.
2) The war can be won -- if the American people have the will to let the job be done.

Bush lied about the nature of the cherrypicked intelligence and about Saddam's ties with Osama. Which is why the Zogby Poll of US soldiers in Iraq revealed they believed they were primarily there to get revenge for Saddam's help in doing 9/11.
Thankfully, the neocons' attempt to turn Iraq into an Israel-friendly puppet state of America is doomed.

But since you see the whole world through the prism of Jew-hatred, I'm not surprised by your comment.

Does 60% of the American public see Bush's lies through the prism of Jew-hatred? Polls other than Zogby have been rather consistent on that subject for more than a year.

Sixty percent of the American public are wrong on the war in Iraq, having been misled by Democrats and the MSM who would rather see Bush fail than America succeed.
You, on the other hand, view the world through a prism of jew-hatred, and are therefore nothing but a useful idiot for the terrorists.

I view the world politically in terms of what's good for America. Blind support for Israel is suicidal for America and the Israeli Lobby was a key force in pushing America to war. Words like "hate" and "anti-semite" are thrown about by those who rely on epithets effective in the past but which have fading utility now.

Have you ripped the Old Testament out of your bible so as to avoid contamination by the Jews? You know, like Marcion.
Posted by: Jacob at Thu Nov 30 07:32:46 2006 (Cz0G3)
The siteowner rips the New Testament out, as do all the dispensational evangelicals who believe the bandit state of Israel's founding fulfills Bible prophecy.
Marcion was an interesting theologian, but I'm satisfied with traditional triumphalist Christian.eg . Lutheran methodology which the siteowner insists is blemished with a trail of "anti-semitism," in his politically correct guilt-ridden view of history.

By the way, I am neither dispensationalist nor millenialist, nor evangelical (at least not in the sense you use the last term -- after all, Luther saw himself as an evangelical as well as a reformer). On the other hand, you clearly hew to the worst portions of Luther's theology -- that which involves hatred for the Jews and leads inexorably to the Holocaust.

Your comic book eschatology would be laughable were it not for the Jewish racists who manipulate it to their advantage.
What you call "the worst portions of Luther's theology" are essential components of Traditional Christianity, inclusive of that of both historic Catholic and Eastern Orthodox .

And if taking the clear statements of Scripture at face value constitutes a "comic-book eschatology", count me in.

You're a parrotlike regurgitator of ADL semantics. Traditional Christian theology on the subject was not defined as "Jew-hatred" until the Anti-Defamation League developed its propaganda line to that effect.in the early 1900s.

The great Jewish historian, Israel Shahak, euologized herein, wrote enlightening books on the Talmudic core of Judaism which triggered defense mechanisms in host populations which the gullible siteowner equates with "hatred" as the ADL would have him do.

How many of those Palestinians were engaged in actions against Israel? How many of them were the victims of terrorist decisions to locate themselves in the midst of the civilian population so as to make civilian casualties inevitable? How many of the non-terrorists were the intended targets of the Israelis?
In other words, there is a reason for the disparity, and the blood is on the hands of the terrorists, Mr. Hoop.

Palestinians target civilians for death.
Israelis do not, and any civilian deaths are collateral damage resulting from the decision of terrorists to hide/operate among the civilian population in an attempt to create so-called atrocities by the Israelis.
