(BUMPED) Fitna Is Here UPDATE: Threats Of Violence Lead To Self-Censorship

I will not submit. I will join the international movement to see that Geert Wilders' documentary, Fitna, is freely available.

Here is the Torrent link to the movie.

I have not watched the movie. I may not watch the movie. But I will do my part to help prevent the suppression of the movie.

Bravo to LiveLeak for upholding the same principle.

Free speech trumps the right not to be offended.

UPDATE: The torrent link still works, but LiveLeak was forced to drop their hosting of Fitna. Their statement is as follows.

Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.

This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.

Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture.

We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.

Seems to me that a certain segment of the Islamic community just proved Geert Wilders' point -- aided and abetted by certain elements of the liberal media. Good going, Islamo-Fascist scum!

Fortunately, another source exists for the video.

Freedom of speech will not be stopped by seventh-century barbarism.

1 It is very good it was shown, now we can discuss it. The film is a pamphlet. It tries to associate the deeds of some lunatics (who try to justify themselves with the Q'uran) with ALL the moslims. It also is poorly done. Some of Wilders blunders: - The use of the Danish cartoon was not authorized by the cartoonist. He just called Wilders a thief in an interview on Dutch TV. - He changed some words on the verses (soerat 8, vers 60 does not say 'terrorize') - The image he uses of Van Gogh's killer is actually a Moroccan raper. Proof that xenophobes think that all Muslims look and act the same? Just as a note: I am not a Muslim but the film sucks content and editing wise. I think the discussion should not be about "the right not to be offended" but about the right of not being stigmatized. Freedom of speech carries responsabilities and it always has a goal. What do you think is Wilders goal? To say that all Muslims are dangerous as long as they are Muslims? In ocntrast to all Christians are good and never comit a crime? Please...

2 Sorry, I'm not in a position to discuss the pluses and minuses of the film with you -- I haven't watched it. But I will disagree with you. Your "right not to be stigmatized" does not exist, any more than the right not to be offended. And the notion that the government should suppress "irresponsible" speech is anathema to the notion of freedom of speech. After all, it is simply a justification for limiting the rights of those whose ideas the government finds dangerous.

5 I don’t understand the mentality of people like Andrea. They speak of a couple of semantic errors, but say nothing of the overall belief system that permits any Muslim (and the operative word here is “any”) to murder a non-believer. Ah, duh?? Heeeelooo? I urge everyone to download and watch this film in the name of Freedom and in defiance of the Islamic brand of censorship. To all Muslims I say, if you’re so ashamed of the way your beliefs are supposedly misused by radicals and allegedly mischaracterize you, then REFORM Islam so there’s no misinterpretation. Simple.
