What Do You Think?

Someone posted a comment that contains identifying information about the accuser in the Duke Rape Case.

I'm not a fan of rape shield laws, as I believe they stigmatize those accused without subjecting the accuser to the same sort of public scrutiny that the accused must face. But at the same time, I have some concerns about the sort of information that was posted.

So, folks, what do you think -- should it stay or should it go?

1 A good question. The principle behind shielding victims is that IF their accusations are true, then exposing them to the general public before, during, or after a trial will be uniquely traumatizing. It will be, in theory, necessarily injurious in a way that exposing the name of a person who brings a tort case or an assault charge will not be.

IF you accept that maxim as true, or even just portentially true, then I think it is wrong to post the name of the accuser. If you do not think it true, or if you simply don't think THIS accuser has any credibility (not an unreasonable position) then I think you can in good conscience post the information.
