If Obama'sSuch A Great Speaker

Why did he make such a poor choice of words?

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.

"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."

"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

"We've had enough of the same old thing."

Now let's consider a couple of things.

Yes, as the Obama campaign notes, the phrase is a not uncommon idiom. However, when you are running against a woman whose signature line is that she is a pit bull with lipstick, ANY reference to lipstick will be viewed as a reference to her. That crowd certainly took it that way -- and if Obama is even half as smart as he and his followers claim he is, then he knew it.

Oh, yeah, and for Obama and his supporters to claim that such an interpretation is unfair is rather disingenuous. After all, any criticism directed at Barry Hussein by his opponents has been deemed as "racist" by either him, his staff, or their surrogates in the media.

"Arrogant"? Racist!

"Elitist"? Racist!

"Inexperienced"? Racist!

"Community Organizer"? Racist!

So Democrats saying that the firestorm around the comment is unfair certainly strikes me as nothing more than whining.

Heck, I'm surprised that his syncophantic followers aren't claiming that Republican objections to the poor turn of phrase are racist.

1 So lip stick now relates to racism, somehow in your foggy head? You're projecting your agenda all too clearly and much too frequently - as an "idealist" I would think that you and those like you are hurting Obama's chances - not helpiong them with this type spin...the Silent Majority has taken attention now - and they are Relgious - boo. Those that are overly concerned with race are otherwise called - - racist, whether of the reverse type or otherwise. Regards, -The Nation's Pulse

2 There is no quistion about Obama's Lip Stick comment ---He took a cheap shot at Palin. But what can you expect from the fast talking low class follower of the most reverent J.Wright and W.Ayers.

5 Obama's remark "Lipstick on a Pig", gaff or calculated? Only if you believe Barrack Obama is a gifted orator who knows how to play to an audience would you be offended by a remark that seemingly jabs Sarah Palin? You would also have to know the street use of this term, analogous to putting a paper bag over a woman's head before sexual intercourse.

6 But of course he didn't mean it that way! Just like he didn't mean to listen to Jeremiah Wright for 20 years... Just like he didn't mean to launch his political career from the home of William Ayers... cjh
