Hurricane Ike News-- It Doesn't Look Good For Us

We got a bit of Houston news on MSNBC -- folks are not being allowed into Seabrook due to flooding, and we are being instructed to wait for the city website to announce we are allowed back. Oh, and the city website is off-line.

This may explain why.

Two blocks from city hall, two feet off Highway 146.
And 2 1/2 miles from my house.

About 1/3 mile down Highway 146 from the above picture,
near the bridge to Kemah.

So we remain in Austin.

1 You and all those in Ike's path are in my prayers, Greg. I hope you find things high and dry when you get to go home. cjh

2 I appreciate the prayers -- but reports from the city make it clear that our place is probably in some deep water. Just pray for us to get through it all.

3 Greg, Enjoy a good hot shower, A/C and call it a mini vacation. Up here on the north side where we are, no electricity, no running water, lots of debris all over. It might be a couple of weeks before electricity is restored. Running water was on for about an hour and then quit; wish I'd taken a shower but was too busy cleaning up storm debris off the drive way.

4 There is that, my friend. I'm just waiting for info on what happens next with us.

5 I do not know you but was anxiously looking up Seabrook on the Net. My parents live there, near Lake Mija. My thoughts are with you.

6 Hey Greg, I'm so sorry for your trouble.Hopefully things won't be as bad as they seem once the waters recede. The main thing is that you and yours are safe. Easy for me to say, I know, but even if worse comes to worse ( G-d forbid) you can always rebuild or move or something. It's a cliche, but needless to say my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. All Best, Robert

7 Hi Greg and your Darling Democrat. The Manco's are also outside of Austin and have just read your posts. We can finally say that we finally agree with you about our city politics.

8 We figured you were around here. Glad to hear you are safe. Give the kids a hug from us both -- and tell Sherry that Carmie sends special tail-wags her way!
