NY Times Labels Terrorist Detainees As POWs

Do you doubt me? The look at this.

Mr. Bush ignored that fact after 9/11, when he tried to put the prisoners of the war on terror beyond the reach of American law and the Geneva Conventions.

If these folks are really prisoners of war, they are then not entitled to any trial. Indeed, trying them at all is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Furthermore, it would be within the province of the President to order them held until the conflict is ended by treaty or victory. Given that the War on Terror will last for many years (possibley beyond our lifetimes), the NY Times has conceded that the captured terrorist may be detained for life without any trial whatsoever.

It's scandalous that blossoming near-totalitarians like the siteowner can sanction Bush tyranny in an undeclared (by Congress, the only Constitutional authority, ask fellow Texan Ron Paul) pseudo-war desinged only to protect the extrravagances of plutocratic Empire.

Many of the prisoners were turned in as a result of personal feuds, and for money and had nothing to do with resistance or terror, however an Empire-builder defines it.

2 Yawn!

KKKen, I'll be sure to let Ron know that you and your ilk support him the next time I see him -- I'm a mile from his district, am friends with folks active in his campaign, and see him from time to time.

Knowing the good congressman, he'd renounce you and all your evil works.

He'd have good word to say about your "democratic Israel" reference, too, as a sharp critic of its  treatment of Palestinians. The fact he is not a Buchananite doesn't mean he isn't several cuts above you eg your  promotion of the Iraq War, concerning which he is more atune  to  your straw man/villain Murtha.

4 We've had words on the Israel/Terrorstinian issue, KKKen -- and Ron is nowhere close to you and your neo-Nazi Buchabnanite brownshirt  bretheren.

More to the point, we can agree on some portions of it -- but then again, he doesn't want to see the Jewish people exterminated like you do.
